Established in 1995. We have been moving families for over four generations now. Our founder's grandfather began helping neighbors with their weekend moves with his personal ice truck. I requested a quote online from multiple movers. I received an auto response immediately via email and automated phone message. The following morning a nice gentleman called, I asked if I could phone him back and he said sure. I called back 3 minutes later and a different man answered the phone, sounded like he just woke up (8:40am) and I explained I was calling back for a quote, and he sighed, and couldn't be bothered and said, "can you just call back after 9am???" Seriously??? I said, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Ill move on to another company.....Completely unprofessional to say the least. The first point of contact with the customer is the most important...unfortunately...they have some work to do here.

This was a very stressful moving experience. Moving in general can be very stressful. I was quoted one price over the phone and when the movers showed up they tell me I was given the wrong information by the corporate office in Texas. It sounds like a bait and switch...right. I took the bait and I got seriously overcharged for this move. The foreman was rude and very aggressive. My things were heavily slammed on the floor. They showed up two and a half hours late. They would only move certain items, basically only things that were packed in a box, anything else is an additional charge. They charged for all of their packing materials except for blankets. I'm not sure what was included in the price of the move. ($900.00 for a one bedroom apartment)They only had to travel 15 minutes the new location. I was firmly asked to pay before the job was completed.  I would never recommend this company.

WHAT A MONEY SAVER!!!   Three dudes show up.  We showed them around the house and what we needed to move.  They saw our house and did a walk through.  The one in charge is talking about how tired that he was from his last job.  One actually said out loud, "Man, I hate my job!" as he walked up.    Upon arrival they did not know where they were taking the truck to.  Once I told them the location and that it was about an hour and twenty minutes away he replied, "Man, it's really late in the day, do you want to reschedule?"  (It was 3:00pm at the time).  Once I told them that I needed to get it done tonight their attitude completely changed.     They walked away for a bit and spoke amongst themselves.  Upon returning they brought up the fact that there was a spilt ashtray in the garage and also the mess from moving our rabbits into the car from the house deemed the home unsanitary.  My husband ended up renting a truck and moved the house himself with the help of his brother.    $145/hour for six hours is $870 that this company lost out on today.  Way to go, guys!  Maybe we'll buy a new flatscreen, after all.hh

They were great about moving my furniture out, but when it came to the new house, they were careless. Paint was damaged, floors not protected, items dropped. I had just had my house painted and now I have to repainting all the areas that have marks and chips out of them. They also left things behind. Moving is stressful enough without this.

Wow. Where to begin? First off let me say that we had two separate teams of guys who did our move (we had closing issues with our sellers so we were forced to move to storage unit for a week and then moved to our new home from there). The guys on both teams were awesome. This review is NOT at all based on their level of service and kindness. I will say that quite a few things were broken and cannot be replaced which sucks, but having two total moves from a home to storage and storage to a new home I guess that was a risk.I thought from the reviews and company info that AMS was owner operator and that all the employees were involved and took personal ownership in the company. Not at all true. You book your move through a corporate location where they have ZERO idea how to schedule appropriately and the girl I spoke with when booking my move quoted me $700 and ASSURED me that three guys was enough for a four bedroom home. Total joke. They had to call for more guys that they were unable to get on the day of the move. Needless to say it took over 8 hours and cost me $1300. Double what the quote had been. If you can't give me an accurate quote then just don't bother. I was appalled that it cost twice as much and super pissed to say the least. Of course, we liked the drivers and happily tipped them for their hard work.Then comes the second moving day the following week where they were going to get the stuff from our storage unit and move it to our new home. There were MULTIPLE confirmation calls made from Mark and Craig to me and vice versa. . .the movers were to meet me at the storage unit at 1pm after our home closing to get packed up. At 8:30am in a cab on the way to my closing I get a call from a guy telling me he will be at the unit in 30 minutes, at 9am. It was scheduled for 1pm and again, repeatedly confirmed. When I told the driver it was for 1pm and not 9am, he said NO PROBLEM, and that he would get it changed and see us at 1pm.When I waited until 1:2pm at the storage unit for my movers and finally decided to call Mark and Craig, I was told, "we can't get anyone to come there today, can we put you on for another day? We called all of our guys but no one is answering. Sorry."Are you kidding me? If the person I spoke with at 8:30am said they would handle it, why I am hearing from the manager who I CALLED that they can't do it and need to reschedule? Why in the world did they not call ME to let me know? What if I had waited all day for them? Would Mark/Craig have not called to let me know they were not coming? Unacceptable. Management totally dropped the ball on this. As a manager and a former business owner I can't tell you how detrimental it is to your business to let something like this happen. Never in a milling years would I let that happen to a customer or client of mine. Ever. Meanwhile they were able to get me on for the next day so I was able to rearrange my entire schedule again (as if this move hadn't been stressful enough from the start).The team of movers were lovely and helpful, but AGAIN, it cost me over $1,100 and took 9 hours to move things from a storage unit to my home. So this entire move I was quoted $700 for now cost me over $2,000, items were broken and damaged, and the managers offered me ZERO compensation. When I started calling for movers, I contacted New City who I had used previously and loved and they quoted me $1400. They said it was a standard rate for Chicago moves. They didn't try to bullshit me and give me some phony $700 rate that would end up being $1400 anyway like All My Sons did. The teams of gus doing the moves are nice enough, but the call center reps have NO idea how to quote a move, or they are just told to lie to get the business? And the local managers? Really? To screw up a scheduled move time and then NOT CALL THE CUSTOMER THAT DAY TO SAY IT COULDN'T BE DONE???? I should not have to call you to see where you are. The manager I spoke with actually told me he suggested I call some other movers to see if I could get some guys out to do the move. Just awful service.
