The Professional Movers is personally run and managed by John Kelly, John still works on every move with his long time group of professional personnel. John's wife, Marie, handles all of the packing with her amazing team of ladies, who have also been with the company for years. They specialize in full service moves for large homes and particular clients, but are more than happy to accommodate small moves as well, at very competitive prices. Although every move is unique, one constant remains the same, they cover all floors, pad all furniture, bag all beds, plastic wrap all upholstered items. They even provide felt pads for all furniture that will be placed on hardwood floors. Additionally, all boxes are placed on paper pads to avoid any potential scratching or floors. In particular cases (rain, brand new homes) they place an inside and outside crew to assure the move is perfect.

History

Established in 1987. John Kelly started The Professional Movers in 1987, when he realized there was a need for someone to lend credibility to an otherwise less than reputable industry. John, having a B.S. in Accounting and achieving California State Board Certificates as both a CPA and a Class «B» General Contractor felt that he had more to offer than your average mover. This is why John will disconnect and reconnect washers, dryers, refrigerator water lines and lamp fixtures at no additional cost. He is a «can do» («yes man») type of guy. Realtors in Los Altos realized this and have been using him exclusively for years. His referral business is unsurpassed. John feels lucky and continues to be humble and work hard, and never wants to let anyone down. Quoting from John, «once you get to the top of your industry and stay there for 25 years, you can never make a mistake! Everyone will concentrate on that and not your other successes.»

Their name really does say it all - these guys are professional. I had the pleasure of working with John and his great crew today and I wouldn't hesitate to use their business again. They were on time, friendly, and all worked well as a team to get the job done as quickly as possible. Our move took longer than we all had anticipated (my fault for not totally realizing the amount of stuff we needed moved - lesson learned), but they were still patient with last minute adjustments and didn't leave until the job was done. Every piece of furniture was moved with upmost care and caution (using gloves and shoe protectors when necessary) and even providing us with felt pads for furniture. We were a bit worried about getting some extremely large, extremely heavy area rugs moved and these guys did it with no complaint and while it was definitely not easy, they made it look so. They even took the time to clean up and pile up the recycling garbage afterwards. Top notch movers. Would highly recommend. Also, scheduling was a breeze; John is quick to return your emails and phone calls.

Top-notch service delivered at very competitive prices. I've moved many times, with many different moving companies. John and his crew did a fabulous job. Everything was moved quickly and carefully. I really couldn't have asked for anything more. I'd hire them again in a second. With all the great reviews they received, I thought I would have to pay more for this level of service, but they proved to be very affordable and were willing to work with me on a variety of options to stay within my budget.

I was very happy with the result of our move. It was a relatively small move, but a complicated one, moving to a house with several stories on a hill up a steep driveway, with other complications thrown in. John was impressive with optimizing their use of time and with logistics. Mike and Gabriel were amiable and skilled at not causing damage to things, and asked lots of questions to make sure they were doing what we wanted.Price-wise, they charged me around $185 per hour for three people and a truck. I'm not sure how their pricing compares to other movers, but according to my realtor they have lots of experience with higher-end homes in the Bay Area. For the results and the fact that I never really felt nervous or stressed about what they were doing, it was money well-spent.

This is a little belated, but since I was recommending John and his team to someone else I thought I should write a review!We hired John after being unable to book another company for any of the dates we had discussed with them. John was easy to work with and got us on the schedule without any issues.On the day of, John's team was terrific. They were careful with our things and really worked hard to get us carefully moved in spite of rain and a new home full of tiny landings and 3 floors to traverse. They were positive, helpful, and careful the whole time.They had everything they needed, didn't fuss about forcing me to buy a 'special box' for my temper mattress, and honestly were just so professional that I got to relax for the move!

John and his team have moved me three times now -- once out of a storage unit into a condo. Once out of that condo into a storage unit (oh the joys of the Bay Area housing market!) and then again, out of that storage unit into my new house. Each time John's team was on time, friendly and oh so efficient. They packed (or unpacked!) my things with such care and ease that it made the process of moving so much less stressful. When moving from my condo to the storage until, my gosh those guys are Jenga masters! They stacked and arranged furniture like puzzle masters, ensuring that everything fit inside perfectly while I waited for my new house to be ready. Min between each of the pieces of furniture they laid pieces of thick packing paper to prevent damage and also wrapped everything in plastic. They were also incredibly considerate, asking which boxes I might want to access during the downtime and placing those in front so I wouldn't have to try to tunnel in. Once at my new house they unpacked their trucks with speed and care-- ensuring that furniture was placed where I wanted it (taking time to center things "just so" in the family room, dining room etc) and laid down track mats throughout the house to protect flooring. Seriously. These guys are the professional movers. I hope I don't have to move again because I love my house but if I do, I know who I'm calling. (And, I know why my whole family uses them when they move). Thanks guys!
