I used to live in Chicagoland and now I live the San Francisco Bay area. Magic, right?Nope. It was Door To Door storage. So I actually kind of already reviewed Door To Door for the services they provided upon my departing from Chicagoland, using their drivers and trucks out of Melrose Park (which you can read here if you have a ton of time on your hands: yelp.com/biz/door-to-doo…), but this review is for the services provided to me through their storage facility and drivers who operated and brought me my stuff from their San Jose location. Again, my overall experience was an extremely positive one and one that I'd absolutely recommend and use again, but there was a hiccup that was rather frustrating while working with the San Jose facility. As I mentioned in my earlier review, scheduling with Door-To-Door is easy peasy and for what they do with cross-country moves, this is as simple and affordable as it gets. You get a quote online (my initial quote was exactly what I ended up paying - and they even refunded me $200 for a deposit fee that I didn't even know was included in the initial fee), a real person who actually wants to help you will give you a ring to answer all your questions and hammer out the details, you'll get a general office number and a direct line to your rep. You get to choose how many crates you want and any crate that you don't use, you're completely refunded for. Everything went smoothly with the whole shipment- nothing broke, everything came within the days/hours they said it would, and I was happy with everything from begining to *almost* the very end, with the one exception being that when we'd finished unloading my crates, the crates were scheduled to be picked up by Door-To-Door the very next day, and that was kind of imperative because I'd just moved into a new apartment and the crates weren't in a super ideal spot, on a very vertical hill, taking up some very valuable parking spaces on the property. Door-to-Door is super direct in telling you that the crates need to be ready to go and closed up by 7am on the day of your pick up, so I thought it was weird when I got home that night and they were still there. I called and left a message for Door To Door and I did get a call back right away the very next morning apologizing and letting me know that they (at the Seattle HQ) were contacting the San Jose facility to get the crates picked up ASAP that next day. The only thing is, the crates never got picked up and ended up sitting at my building Wednesday through Saturday when they should have been picked up on Thursday. It was frustrating because I'm new to the building and really wasn't looking to be 'that guy' who pisses everyone and the property manager off on my first few days, but I was put in that position because something slipped through the cracks with the SJ facility. Luckily, no one at my place of residence reported me or got pissed off (that I know of), but it did put a damper on the otherwise 5-Star Door-To-Door experience.

Perfect service from start to finish!  Really!  No kidding!  And, these folks were the least expensive around by a substantial amount.  I moved from Mountain View, California to southeastern Pennsylvania.  At every point, the service was on time, the communications were responsive and the people were always polite and professional.  I have never written a review like this.  I was very skeptical of the industry based on a previous move, but Door to Door far exceeded my expectations.  Thank you for showing how it should be done!  A+++

I've been a customer for the past 7 years. I've used them for moving and storage between Washington, Colorado and California and each move went flawless.  Customer service and booking on the phone is consistently easy, the company has kept their appointment times and their drivers are always friendly.  The containers work really well but you do need some insight on how to pack them, how to protect your furniture and you'll need some supplies (Moving blankets, tie-downs, etc).  Highly recommended and great price.

We had 5 pods for several months.  Several serious issues with delivery/pick-up failures.  They don't have a good handle on logistics.  And, they charge for extra months, even after the PODS are picked up.... so I needed to follow up.This company as about 20% good aspects and 80% issues.  Use someone else.

Do not use these guys! I moved from San Jose to Seattle and it was such a nightmare using this company. The pod was delivered to my house a day later than promised and I was only given 2 hours to pack it before they picked it up again. Having scheduled movers to come help me load the pod- this made it impossible to schedule and I ended up having to pay the movers for 4 extra hours while we waited for the pod, which never showed up on the promised day. I purchased moving blankets with the pod and when it arrived - guess what? no blankets. I had to pack the pod in 2 hours and basically improvise protecting my furniture with towels. As a result a bunch of my stuff is scuffed and marked. When I complained to customer service, I was given a bunch of empty promises about how they would make it right. I would definitely not recommend this company during your next move - they will only make it worse.
