Moving is obviously never fun, but I was blown away by the experience we had with Corovan. We worked with Rod Carter, and I can't say enough good things about the whole process. From the quote we received (way lower than other companies I spoke to), the pre-move meeting, to the actual move itself, I was constantly reassured that I picked the right company.Rod was more than happy to answer all 1000 of my questions that I had leading up to the move, and super accommodating when we changed the date 5 times due to construction delays. The team that arrived on moving day was incredible, mostly due to Jesse. He and his team are obviously professionals, and made the whole experience virtually painless. Not once in the 8 hours did I see any of them even sit down to take a break. Everything was packed carefully, and they were happy to change the position of some furniture when I changed my mind. We had a few conference tables that our normal handyman would have taken hours to put together, and they were each up in 30 minutes or less. I don't think there was anything that the guys could have done to make this a better experience. They even drop off boxes and pick them up after.100 stars for Rod, Jesse, and the entire Corovan team. Thanks, guys!

I came in a while ago to inquire about their storage fees and rates for some business records and surplus office equipment. Upon arrival no one was at the desk, there was a bell so I rang it. Some tall middle aged putz in a shirt and tie asked me if I'm a customer, I told him no, but I am curious about your storage rates. He told me the bell is for customer's only and not to ring it. Wait, what? Why have a bell on the desk then? It must not be for potential customers only current ones, okay that makes sense....I looked at him asked if he was serious and he turned his back to me. Well this isn't worth any confrontation and I guess it explains the stellar yelp reviews they have received. They must not be hurting for business and don't accept new customers, silly me. So as I am in shock from the blatant rudeness I just experienced I start walking back towards my car. There was still no one at the desk except the tall middle aged putz who just walked back into his office and then started talking to someone, maybe someone to come out and help me? Definitely not, that's asking for too much. To my car I go.As I am walking out, another tall putz in a shirt and tie had a smug look on his face as they left the office together laughing. Huh? Is that how you earn business? Is that how you speak to people? Did someone win a bet? Am I on "Punked?" Unbelievable.I'm 5'11 and these guys were pushing 6'4-6'5 so I'm sure they'll stick out like a sore thumb if you're ever in their holier than thou establishment. On top of all of this I got a rock chip on my windshield on 880 coming over here! Definitely a sign lol.

The Corovan moving team was amazing.  This was the first office move I had to coordinated and Rod and Ray made it effortless.  The team that moved our San Jose office were professional, on-time and everyone knew their job and got to work without being told what to do.  And, when I had to move desks around after they had been placed, they actually moved them with a smile, reassuring me it was okay and they wanted to make sure I was happy with the desk placement. Finally, the pre-move support we got from Rod was great and exactly what we needed.  I would highly recommend the Corovan team!

Edit: I got my $700 back. Granted I had to fight for it. I also received a lovely letter in the mail from Cor-o-van. I guess they check the reviews here on Yelp! They "kindly" asked me to add that I received my "$704" back from the move and that most companies wouldn't offer refunds like they had. Personally (if you ask me) that money should have never been charged in the first place so i STILL suggest you try to do your move and your own and NEVER use Cor-O-van. If there was zero stars they'd be getting a big fat zero. Especially with this latest letter I got in the mail."It is standard to have someone from the moving company you are dealing with come to your house to get an idea of what you will be moving. Cor-o-van was about my sixth estimate and blew me away with their professionalism. Bob came over and talked to me about the move and looked at the items that needed to be moved. He put all of the details into his handheld pda and printed me a quote right there in my living room with his portable printer. (I'm a tech geek. this excited me!) I saw right away that the quote was far below the other quotes that I'd received. At that point I was waiting for one more person to get back to me (he never did) so I went with Cor-o-van.Moving Day!The driver actually showed up early to start packing his truck. He seemed really nice and things got off to a good start. My husband had decided to stay home until I was comfortable with the movers. About 2 hours in I told my husband he could take off that I'd handle it. When my husband left the driver called me outside to talk to me. He had been tagging my items with numbers. His count was over 200 items. On the original estimate 100 had been the estimate. He went into this whole song and dance about how he was going to be screwed. That the weight of the load would be way off and that the man doing the estimate didn't care about him. In the long run the driver was the one that always got the raw end of the deal. Now, he did initially tug on my heart strings. For a split second I thought that this might be true. Then I wised up. I should have called the office right then and there and reported this behavior however I didn't. WHY? Because I wanted my stuff to get to Oregon in one piece!Delivery Day!The truck didn't fit into my complex! The hubby and I were out and extra $700 because our items had to be shuttled into our house. Never mind the fact that I asked the property management more than once if a large truck or semi would fit. I got the go ahead and the brush off from the property management. Day of she changed her tune when the movers actually called her office. Our stuff got here in one piece. Everything is here. The lack of communication from the truck company about different size trucks fitting different places didn't exist. I came to find out that there are two different sized semis' that could possibly deliver a load. I found this out after I had the extra $700 charged to my credit card for the shuttle. I asked the office of cor-o-van if maybe they should consider calling properly management before a move to find out what kind of trucks would fit. Especially since they were the experts and I'd never done this before. I got a definite now on that one! Because how could they possibly call ALL of their delivery sites?I thought I researched "enough" about movers and moving. Obviously not. I really feel like clauses like the $700 for a shuttle mover are there to make the companies more money. They know what they are doing! Here are some tips for dealing with moving companies.1) Deal directly with the person that came out and gave you an estimate. DO NOT deal with the driver. Our driver gave me a story about the estimate man "screwing him" because we had more boxes and things that were listed on the original estimate. He went on to say that in the long run he was being "screwed" because the estimate man didn't give a crap about the driver.2) DO NOT give the driver cash at ANYTIME. (unless you are tipping him) Call the office directly and give them your credit card number or whatever form of payment they take.3) IF the drive offers you a "cheaper way" to get something done call the office. Our driver wanted us to hand over $500 cash to him and rent a uhaul so he could shuttle our stuff into our complex, since his truck wouldn't fit. IF there is a problem with a truck fitting into your complex the office with figure out how to shuttle your stuff in. It is NOT your responsibility.4) Find out what size trucks fit into your neighborhood. We found out a bit to late that there are different size semi's.Don't assume that your property management contact knows what they are talking about! I got the go ahead from my property management that a "big truck" even a "semi" would fit at our new place. NOT THE CASE! We are out an extra $700 because our stuff has to be shuttled in.I think the moral of the story is: if you can move your stuff yourself. DO IT!!!"

I cannot say enough great things about Cor-O-Van!  I work for a VC and anyone involved with a VC knows how incredibly particular they are.  Cor-O-Van has handled many of our moves over several years and we have never had one problem!  Guys are great, polite - nothing has ever been damaged or lost. Rob Carter, Sales is fantastic!  Very professional.  Meets with the client and does a walk through.  Then provides a quote.  Other steps involved but Rob has always been VERY helpful and promptly answer any questions one may have.  Steve Sieben, Operations Manager schedules the right number of guys, trucks, and everything else needed for a smooth move.  Robert Shimada has always been the move manager onsite.  Great, professional guy as well.  Let's face it, moves are never fun regardless how close or far they are.  If you want a moving company to come in who will walk you through the process, provide you with the needed supplies, resources and a team that cares about your furniture and your time, hire Cor-O-Van!
