Since 1945, U-Haul has been serving do-it-yourself movers and their households. Like many other successful ventures, the concept for U-Haul was generated out of need. After World War II, there existed the widespread need for do-it-yourself moving equipment that would be available on a one-way, nationwide basis. U-Haul co-founders L.S. «Sam» Shoen and his wife, Anna Mary Carty Shoen, recognized that need and acted upon it. Their visionary approach spread the cost of ownership among many users, facilitating the mobility of the populations of the U.S. and Canada. The covered wagon of the pioneers morphed into orange U-Haul trailers. In the process, an industry was born. Discharged from the Navy in the summer of 1945, 29-year-old Sam and Anna Mary tried to rent a utility trailer to move their possessions from Los Angeles to Portland, Ore. It couldn't be done. They had to take only what they could fit in the car.

«Small luggage-type passenger automobile trailers were being rented from 'rental lots' in Los Angeles. Each lot had from 20 to 40 trailers which were rented locally for approximately $2 per day,» recalled Shoen in his book «You and Me,» «I recognized that here was an item with considerable utility value which had not been exploited at all in the Northwest or in the San Francisco-Oakland area. I was intrigued with the business potential of this idea, especially from the standpoint of one-way rentals.» The Shoens reasoned that many other families had a need similar to theirs: the short-term availability of a trailer that could be rented «here» and left «there.» No one, at that time, seemed ready or willing to serve that need.

We have our big move to Michigan this weekend and Randy was awesome with booking, accommodating, making the process easy, helpful, friendly, and down to earth! My husband usually finds more cut and dry (in the worst way possible) people running storage and moving businesses, but he had absolutely no complaints. We are packed up ... Selected the U-Box and are ready for the cross country roadtrip and we have no worries about our stuff. Randy keeps a close eye on the boxes and trucks, which really helped a lot not having to lock everything every time we left. Great customer service....you get your bang for your buck! Thanks for all of the help Randy! (these are the words my husband said, but I generalized things because I'm bad at texting)Highly recommended!

Very poor service. I rented 26 ft truck wich was old and right side mirror was shaking and turns, I couldn't see anything in the back. When we stopped we taped it but it was still same issue. I never recommend this u-haul place to anyone. My total was $103, and they charged extra $78. I want feedback from this location and explain me my total then I'll explain them how horrible was truck.

A few years ago if you would have told me that the first and only review of a U-Haul location that I'd ever write would be a 5 star one I woulda called you a liar, but alas here I am penning a pretty awesome experience. This location had extremely friendly and efficient service on both the pickup and drop off. The attendant even made an exception for me on the location's policy which saved about 45 minutes of my time. It's always a plus when an employee actually reasons with you as a person rather than some drone following dumb rules that don't make sense. If I'm renting a truck in the future this place has my business.

This location is gigantic and has a tremendous amount of vehicles on site and available at all times. I couldn't believe how big the lot was and how accommodating everybody was all the employees were available to answer questions at all times, they actually answer the phone and they are ready to help you and solve all of your problems. This is a SUPER BIG DEALERSHIP AND LOCATION. 1 (858) 271-74927625 Carroll RdSan Diego, CA  92121Richard the manager is a great employee , super nice guy, very helpful. Aerialactionsports@gmail… Our GIGANTIC 26' truck was READY FOR PICK UP ASAP. Exactly when we were supposed to pick it up it was ready to go, we checked in and out in five minutes. This was a thrill because other times , at Other uhaul locations, we've had to wait .  At other locations, they really delayed our day. This CARRROL RD  U-Haul location is really 5 STAR  in so many ways. Carrol road /Miramar uhaul is  uhaul authorized dealer , very big location off Miramar by the Triangle building  I originally ordered my truck at the Solana beach, CA,  location on the website.  They only have 15' trucks.  They didn't have a truck for me, so national transferee me to this location. BECAUSE My truck  was not available there and I was moved to the Carrol RD Miramar  location. U-Haul is a very accommodating company and has policies and provisions in place, that they honor if a vehicle has to be picked up in a different location, after you have received a confirmation.  I was eligible for a special price for the rental. AMAZING. U-Haul is a national company that has great management and policies.8006547732 uhaul district San Diego, rueben Rodriguez District Mgr, very business like. Great problem solver.
