Do not let these guys in your home.  When they arrived at our home their price increased from the original quote, several pieces of our furniture were gouged and scratched.  They said they did not have enough room in their truck for all our stuff so we had to hire people to move the remaining items in our attic on another day.  Our home is only 1400 square feet.  I would not recommend Starving Students Movers.  It was a very unpleasant experience movers should be there to help you not turn your stressful and exhausting moving day into a nightmare.  We will always regret hiring these movers.

Why didn't I see /read Megg S.'s Feb 2013 review before I hired these guys? I don't know. Apparently the joke's on me! As for you, DON'T DO IT! Short story - bad damages + unreliable moving dates & quotes + ghetto claims department! Long story:1. One of the movers had my short metal filing drawers on his dolly, turned carelessly, and made a fat-ass nasty SCRATCH (about 20" long) to my piano bench. WTFFFF! Right in front of my face! On the claim form they want to know how much damage $ I'm claiming - It's my friggin' piano bench! It came with my piano! I have no *need* to replace it. And I don't trust myself to paint over the scratch. So what now?2. We have a set of large Mrantz speakers that we got from parents. It was in perfect shape before being loaded onto the truck. When the movers brought the speakers to our storage unit, our jaws dropped. Are you ***ing serious? Did they even pad anything? Protect these in anyway? Very much BROKEN! See if you can find the photo I'm posting. We don't know the actual specs of the speakers. So we don't really know how much they are *worth* but at least hundreds of dollars.3. We moved on April 30th. Claims Dept acknowledged that they'd started an "investigation" for our DAMAGE CLAIM on May 29. Since then, not a word. I've emailed the "Head of Claims Department" Melanie twice over the last 2 weeks. It's now 4th of July. No response yet. Also called & left a msg. No response. Do they expect us to just forget about it?4. Up to about 5-6 days before our move, we had no idea if we were going to be moving on the coming Sat or Sun because they were so non-committal! The office said it was "UP TO THE DRIVER". Really? They also never told us what time they were going to show up. Now, since this happened b4 all that damage took place, we tried to keep an open mind. But then -----5. They wouldn't tell us which ACTUAL DAY they would deliver our stuff.  The office told us it's typically 2-5 days. But again, it was "up to the driver". After loading our stuff, we didn't hear from the driver again for 2 days. We never thought we'd be waken by a phone call saying, "We'll be there in an hour". WTF??? With no notice at all, we were still 8 hours of driving away. My husband told the driver that we're not even there because they hadn't arrange the drop off. The driver became very upset, said he had to check with someone, then hung up. We waited for a couple of hours. He didn't call back - that's just professional. Not! We had to call him to back to make sure we could agree on a date/time.6. Prior to the move, their staff "helped" us estimate the weight. The guy kept on telling my husband that people ALWAYS overestimate it. My husband was dead sure we were way under the weight limit. But noooooo, we were OVERWEIGHT BY A FEW HUNDRED POUNDS. There goes the extra charge! I think we were quoted for about $1,500, but we were charged $2,300, including some miscellaneous fees we were completely not informed of previously. All of this, after I "bribed" the movers at our old apartment with sodas, in the hopes & dreams that they'd take care of my furniture and all. D bags!

Not worth the cost. The movers took literally 8 hours and I moved with friends in and out in less then 4 hours when I moved in and has more stuff. I used Uhaul once as well it was $50 an hour and they were quick. They made me feel like shit about the amount of stuff I had. You are movers thats what you do?? Lame it cost me over $1000 double the quote and I tipped 200 totally pissed about that as today I was missing stuff and went to my garage and there are 12 boxes that I know need to carry up after moving like 12 to find the missing boxes. Never again will I use this company. Oh and I moved in and out of a two bedroom place. What a scam!

Worst move I have ever had, by far. Last Sunday, I had a move scheduled between 8am and noon, and the representative confirmed multiple times that I would be the first move of the day since I had to drive back to Nevada that night for work the next day. The mover called at 8am and said he was already doing another move and quoted me 10:30. 11:15 rolled around and I tried calling but his phone went to voicemail. He showed up at 12:30, took 15 minutes to scope out the place, and didn't get anything started until 1.Because we were running so far behind, I asked my friend to help the movers since we own our own dolly. My friend ended up doing at least 60 percent of the move and his total amount of full load trips to the truck more than tripled the amount of both movers combined. The movers were vulgar and unprofessional, not to mention very slow and unmotivated to work. They asked for a snack so I offered to go get them lunch and also offered my fridge for any remaining snacks. One of them spilled a dark drink and stained my carpet that I will now be charged for. The worst is yet to come, the driver mover drank two beers while on the job. When I finally asked my friend to take a break since he was working harder than they were, we left together to get them food. On our way out of my underground parking, we passed by their truck to drop off a tool they needed. To our shock, they were rummaging through a suitcase of mine, completely laid out unzipped on the floor with hands digging inside. Needless to say, I went alone for the food. The entire move took over 6 hours to go to a storage unit 3 miles away and cost 750. I moved the same exact belongings in 2012 from a distance of 90 miles and the total time was less, and the total cost was less. My mind is blown by how this company conducts itself. It's outrageous, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Lucky for me, I work in the legal field and am taking my claim as far as possible to set this terrible company straight.
