We hired Coastal Moving for a 4 bedroom move from UTC San Diego to Hill Crest San Diego. Movers did a perfect job and job was completed in just 8 hours which is two hours less then the estimate I was quoted.

I had read the reviews before I booked with them. And the owner's aunt is my dear friend. Bad decision. The movers were fabulous! Wish I could say the same for this company. A friend referred me to Coastal Moving. Once I told her of my experience with them, she said that she would NEVER recommend them again.I had called multiple moving companies. This one was the most reasonable; $79.00/hr with a 3 hour minimum. A $20.00 charge would be added for using a credit card which was acceptable to me.As I said, the movers were great! When it came to pay, he asked if I wanted him to go over the bill. Yes I did. He said 8 hours at $79.00/hr. No. It was 7 &  1/2 hours. The quote was a 3 hour minimum and charged in 15 minute increments thereafter. He said that it was time & a half for travel. What?!? If you're a moving company, don't you expect to DRIVE THE TRUCK SOMEWHERE?Then I was told that it was a $40.00 fee to use my credit card. No it wasn't. It was $20.00. He called the manager.The manager, Ryan, was extremely rude. He said that it was double time for driving. It's the law. Everyone knows that. Really? First time I had ever hired a moving company. Then I reminded him of the conversation we had when I had booked the job. I had asked him if it was $20.00 more per hour to use my credit card or $20.00 total. He had said that it was $20.00 total. The day of the move he said that it was $40.00 and I had to pay it! Told him that I would dispute it with my bank. His response, "Do what you gotta do!" and he HUNG UP ON ME!!!The movers were tired but I was not going to pay an additional $40.00 to use my credit card. I went to the bank and got cash. I had already tipped them $40.00 each and gave them an additional $20.00 which is what I had been expecting to pay to use my card.A couple of days later, I called them and asked to speak with the owner. I was not allowed to. I explained that Josh's aunt had told me to speak with Josh directly. He said that I couldn't. I asked if I should have his aunt call and pass the phone to me. Ryan said yes and HUNG UP ON ME AGAIN!Worst customer service ever!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I'm surprised they are still in business.

They charged me $1200 to move half of my family belongings 2 miles and then stole my husbands beer.  So there's that.

Called this place on Friday at around 6pm for a quote. Their website says that they're open 8am-8pm 7 days a week. No one answered, so I left a message hoping to get a call back that same evening.... nothing. Called back Saturday morning. Someone answered! They took my number & said that they would call me back in 10 minutes. Never heard back. I guess these guys are doing SO WELL that they can literally just ignore potential customers.

This is the second time I've used Coastal Moving and both times were a good experience.  I didn't really know what to expect the first time, but the guys just showed up in the morning and started moving all my boxes and wrapping all my furniture in big blue blankets and they even knew how to take my couch apart and put it back together at my new place. I didn't have to really do much other than tell them where I wanted my furniture. The guys were really easy to work with and seemed eager to help me through the moving process.
