I picked this Mover because it was close to my home. Boy was I lucky. The dispatcher was very professional. The movers were early. They were very professional. They worked hard and we're friendly they really made my move a pleasure.  Alexi K. , Will, Armen and Sergei were my crew. My move was big. Three bedrooms 1900 ft.² some of my stuff was complicated. Beds other furniture had to be taken apart and put back together. Everything was done perfectly. I recommend this company especially my crew 100%.

ILIA & SERGEY ARE FANTASTIC movers! They are courteous, careful, strong, quick, and remembered everything I said about furniture placement. I reserved a 9-10am start time, and they showed up half an hour early, and gave me the option of starting early (which I did). If I only dealt with these two guys, this review would have been 5 stars.As for the moving company itself, here are my comments:PRICE INCREASES & FEES:The price listed on their website is $89 for 2 movers, and is what my initial email quote said. When I called to confirm my appointment, they suddenly increased rates to $99 for 2 movers (for cash payment; it costs more for credit card). FYI, I am giving more than 2 weeks notice, and am not moving on a first or last Saturday of the month (the busiest moving weekends). I don't mind, since this is around the same price as the other vendors I was considering. However, it would be better if they posted $89-99 as a range, instead of the lower advertised price on their website and my initial email quote. I hate when people aren't up front with prices. I'll pay what you ask, I'd just like some consideration as to my planning and want to prepare to have the correct amount of cash on hand. I'm a little curious if I should have just spent a little bit more on NorthStar.FYI, they charge $100 to list my HOA as a certificate holder on the insurance policy. No other moving company charges a fee for this.I had no problems with my Yelp deal.TEXT MESSAGES & PHONE CALLS: I used Yelp to find these movers and contact them for a quote. I quickly received an email, phone call, as well as intermittent text messages to check on me. All the other movers only emailed and/or called. I hate that some of the other movers kept calling me and leaving messages. If I don't call you back, I'm obviously busy and will get back to you at my convenience. Duh. So I actually decided to choose MDR Movers because of the convenient text conversations I had with Val. Val's text messages were super convenient for my busy lifestyle. Unfortunately, once I confirmed my reservation I got so many phone calls and was tempted to choose someone else. It's bad customer service to keep calling someone after you have already left a message. It's self-centered and annoying. And then they messaged me on Yelp. I don't understand why they didn't text or email me. But they finally stopped bothering me after I asked them on Yelp.Administrative Info:I chose these guys because their business location is super close to my apartment, although afterwards I realized this has absolutely no bearing on where your movers are coming from lol.HELENA IS DELIGHTFUL, when I called with questions, she was thoroughly helpful and courteous.THEIR FAX MACHINE DOES NOT WORK. This was kind of disappointing and difficult to work around. Seems kind of ghetto to me. They told me that it would be fixed the next day, but it was still out the next week.. I wonder if they ever had a fax. It kind of baffles me that they wouldn't simply buy a fax machine, even a cheap one.Overall they don't seem very organized, since I got contacted on the day of the move for my addresses again, and they misquoted me for an earlier start for 8-9am. When I corrected them with the time (which was listed on my contract), he said he mistyped. But the movers showed up at 8:30 sooo... Also, I hired them to pack everything and move, but they did not pack much. I was fine with it, since it saved us quite a bit of money (I spent the next few days packing up and moving my kitchen). Also when I first called to confirm that they had insurance coverage for 1,000,000 (required by my HOA), the guy I talked to said no. I was going to cancel my reservation but couldn't understand why they didn't. So I called back again, Helena confirmed that they do. Overall I'm satisfied with the move. Nothing is broken, and I don't feel gouged. This was my first time ever using movers. It took these guys 6.5 hours to move a 1BR (750 sqft) to a similar size location a few miles away, both w/elevators. We moved a queen bed w/headboard, love seat, coffee table, long dresser, entertainment system, two large screen TV's (no appliances) and lots of boxes and crates. They took a quick 15 minute lunch break and never dawdled.

I was really excited to find a 5 star reviewed moving company.  Unfortunately my experience was far from it.  1) I was assigned 2 pm to 5 pm on a Sunday for my move.  I had called two weeks in advance asked for an earlier time especially since my new residence does not allow moves after 8 pm.  I was told that I would be considered a 'high priority' and that movers would likely be able to come in the AM.  I never got a call from the Company letting me know if they could accommodate it or not. After several calls and being told I was going to be 'high priority', my movers showed up right at 5:00 PM (so much for high priority let alone a morning move).2) Given that we were in a time crunch, my fiance and I disassembled our own furniture (dining table and bed).  The movers did not bring ANY tools with them!  We had already packed up our tool kit and had to find it in our already packed boxes.  What movers don't bring tools??  3) We had packed everything up.  Everything.  Our move was from a one bedroom apartment to another that was 2 blocks away.  The two movers moved EXTREMELY slow.  Total time for the move?  6 hours.  6 hours spent on moving boxes from one apartment that had an elevator to another apartment that had an elevator.  6 hours despite us disassembling our own furniture and moving our own TV, bicycles etc.  The two guys were really nice however.  So the two stars reflect that.  We gave them a hefty tip since the move didn't finish until midnight on a Sunday and it sucks for anyone to be working that late.  That said, when the movers took a look at the apartment (and all the boxed items) they estimated 3 hours.  How they ended up doubling that...I'm still baffled.  At the end, the cost of the move was twice as much as it should have been.

Dmitry and Daniel were the best! They were awesome and were able to pack up my bedroom in no time. They were cordial and in great spirits the entire move, during a rainy Monday. I don't think I've ever had a move go that smoothly. The whole process was very easy. Even the woman I spoke with about the quote was very nice and accommodating. There are a lot of options for movers, but I'd recommend this company.
