U-Haul of Vance Jackson

We hired a U-Haul 14' truck from this location yesterday for the hours of 12PM-6PM. It was a somewhat easy experience. We were doing a small inner city move and 6 hours was plenty of time for us to load all of our crap into the U-Haul, deliver it and return it. I was pretty excited when I found out that I could rent a 14' truck for the same price as a 10' truck at this location ($19.95). Unfortunately, when you add $19.95 + 14.00 (insurance, better to be safe than sorry!) + 21.69 ($0.69 x 21 miles driven) + 10.00 (applicable taxes and enivornmental fee) the total ends up being a bit more than $65. PLUS, you have to return the truck with the gas tank at 1/4 full so that cost an extra $20. In total, it cost us $85 to rent the truck for six hours. While I can't complain because it saved a lot of hassle by putting all of our bigger items in the U-Haul, it's just ridiculously expensive once you've added all of the necessary charges on top of the $19.95 advertised price.This actual location was easy to find, located on the corner of 410W and Vance Jackson Rd. We pulled in and there's no where to park if you have a car, so that can be extremely awkward, you just have to squeeze yourself in somewhere and hope that you won't be getting in anyone's way. Getting out of there isn't much of a hassle depending on the time you go and of course the traffic. When we arrived to the location, we saw a guy smoking outside who looked like he had a uniform on so we assumed he was the guy who was working the front counter. We awkwardly passed him and waited for him to finish his cigarette to come and help us. Really really strange. Also, when we returned the truck (at 6PM when everyone else is conicidently returning their trucks) the line was really long so we were stuck there for quite a while. All-in-all,  a good experience. This is mostly just to pre-warn people that even though they advertise $19.95 for the truck, you're going to be paying a looooooooot more than that.

This isn't specific for this location - but, U-Haul in general. We scheduled a truck a month in advance of our move - we got a call from Corporate 1 day before we're scheduled to pick up the truck, letting us know that no trucks are going to be available on the date we requested. No trucks...in the entire city?  What's the point of reserving a truck?  Such a joke.We're now completely scrambling - calling every truck rental company and mover...hoping someone is available with 1 day notice...on Memorial Day weekend.  To say we're beyond livid is an understatement.  We'll NEVER use U-Haul again.

They have customer parking now and did not run into same guy at counter so had a great experience.

Disgusting and gross. Manager, or I believe he was, was extremely rude and unhelpful. Avoid this location!
