Okay, I know I joke and kid a lot in my yelp reviews, but THIS IS ABSOLUTELY SERIOUS.  I had the misfortune of dealing with Cross America about 10 months ago, and only now that I'm yelping to rave about another moving experience I recently had did I remember to put these people in their place.  NOTE: Their website no longer works, so it is a very real possibility that they are out of business, which given their shady practices would not surprise me at all.I submitted a request for offers through an online moving website and Cross America's was the lowest, being on a tight budget cost was a huge priority for me.  The sales rep sent me a following email offering free packing and packing materials with no sign of any fineprint whatsoever!  I called at least 3 times to make sure their offer was legitimate.  Of course when the movers came in, they were friendly and everything seemed kosher.  As any move the price depended on the final weight of my stuff.  My quote and budget allowed for about 2000lbs, which the movers in their 'professional' experience assured me that my stuff was well within that range. So I was more than a little surprised 2 days later when I found out that the total weight of my stuff was about 5500lbs, putting my total at around $4600 for moving.  On top of that the company was charging me $1500 for packing materials and packing.  That was freakin' bullsh*t!When I called to clear things up, the customer rep, Thomas refused to talk to me and kept forwarding me to the guy that came to do the packing, who was apparently the boss(?)  The gentleman said, that despite my documented offer and acceptance emails between Thomas that the free packing offer was not going to be honored.  In addition he refused to fax me any sort of proof of the actual weight of my items, saying I had waived that right by not going with them to a truck scale, WTF!In the end the guy made it clear that if I ever wanted to see my things I had to pay up.  I could not believe it!  I had to take a loan that I couldn't afford to pay them.  I honestly wish I had been more proactive at the time, at least contacting the BBB, but the cross country move was very stressful and well I'm f**ked.Apparently I'm not the only one, see this person's expeirence, very similar to mine.  complaintsboard.com/comp…I really do hope these scumbags are out of business, but should you receive an offer from them, PLEASE BE CAREFUL!  If you wish to see what the polar opposite of this moving experience please check my Yelp review for Northstar Moving.BUYER BEWARE, BAD, HORRIBLE COMPANY!
