As with L.K and Jerry W., this is my first and worst experience with a mover.  They were all too happy to initially take my deposit and establish a contract, to come to my home to pick up my shipment on Friday, August 3rd and to receive the 66% of the payment for delivery and they were more than happy to ask for the balance plus $100 in cash to actually deliver my shipment on Wednesday, August 29th. 26 days later!! Only problem, FOUR of my boxes were missing and those that were delivered were in serious disrepair. The shipment was a cross country move from DC to LA. There were no less than FOUR drivers associated with the delivery from Phoenix Transportation in Arizona.  By the way, did I sign a contract with them? I have not been able to get a straight answer from anyone as to the status of locating the missing boxes; what are the next steps?; do they think that I will quietly go away when they have all of my daughter's shoes and clothing? I think not! I paid you, you did not fulfill your contract, now you owe me. Enough said!

Rather than writing my own review, I will save you and myself some time by stating that the reviews by Chelsea W., Jo-Anne H., L.K., and Jerry W. almost exactly reflect my experience with Direct Van Lines.  They (a woman named Natale was my initial contact) were very courteous and professional right up until they picked my stuff up, then I was unable to speak to anyone (I called AT LEAST 50 times) for OVER A MONTH!  I have lost a lot of sleep because of these guys, I had pretty much resigned myself to not ever seeing my belongings again.  Even when they finally delivered it looked like they had let apes do the Samsonite luggage test with some of my boxes.  I am still dealing with them as they overcharged my credit card.  Wish me luck, then move on to another company!

First of all I believe that these guys are not even movers, but are brokers - the actual company moving your things can be (in my case, was) some sketchy company you never agreed to work with and didn't check out. I moved from Chicago to Fort Lauderdale using their services. They provided me with a competitive quote and their sales rep "seemed" honest, so I decided to go with them. Once they were in possession of my belongings they substantially increased the cost of the move by increasing the cu. ft. of my belongings (their own binding quote said they couldn't do that after the van was loaded). They also charged long carry fees that were not due and aggressively sought gratuities. Many of our belongings were missing (and may have been stolen or lost). They seem to do nothing when that happens. DO NOT use these guys. They are nice until they have possession of your belongings and then do the least they can do,. I cannot state strongly enough that these guys and those they work with are to be avoided - they seem nice to lure you in, then they overcharge you, contract the work out to who knows who, and lose (or worse) your stuff. The worst of the worst. DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING THEY SAY! DO NOT HIRE THEM OR YOU WILL BE SORRY!IF ANYONE DEALING WITH THESE GUYS DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FINDS AN ICE SKATING BAG (BLACK CANVAS WITH PURPLE/GREEN EMBROIDERED NAME ON THE SIDE AND TEAM LOGO ON THE FRONT, WITH 2 PAIRS OF TAN SKATES AND SKATING DRESSES) PLEASE CONTACT ME. WE ARE ALSO MISSING A TV, PRINTER, LAMP AND FOOD PROCESSOR.

This was, by FAR, the worst experience I've ever had. Period. They sell you the absolute world. Make you feel like you're friends. Give you an honest and fair quote. And come move day - IF they show up which they didn't for me - it's an absolute nightmare and you realize that absolutely nothing you discussed, agreed on, or signed means anything anymore. You are at their mercy and they know it. I moved from Chicago to South Florida (and Chicago to La) on the same day. They didn't show. Then they changed all the specifications, costs, freebies, and times on me. No one answered my calls. No one responded to emails. They charged me $700 more than they should have - and we had agreed on an estimate based on inventory, not weight, and the movers decided to weigh it all. They held my stuff hostage. I had no idea where my belongings were. They knew I was out of town for two days, promised me it wouldn't come, and then tried to drop it while I was gone. They then dropped it at some warehouse and I had to sleuth in order to find it! To this DAY, months later, they never got back to me. It was an absolute nightmare and headache and I will never use them again, or any out of state moving company for that matter. I had a horrendous experience 7 years ago with UNITED and I now will be moving all my shit myself. Cross country.DO NOT USE THEM. THEY ARE SCAMMERS. I don't ever post stuff like this but it has to be known. MAX is a liar, through his teeth, day in and day out...and karma's a bitch.
