Called these guys again.  Got an email confirmation for 8 A.M..  They showed up at 9:30.  The owner eventually called, didn't know who I was, and when I told them they had showed up 90 minutes late, he said, "I had you in the calendar at 9:00."  Well, that's your mistake, not mine.  Two stars because the guys worked pretty hard.

I hired Matt and Budget Friendly Movers through their online booking service about two weeks prior to my move. They were the only movers still available for a June 1 move-in and I now see why. I was moving from a 2 bedroom in Old City to another 2 bedroom in No. Libs. The movers arrived 10 minutes early (which they later attempted to charge another 15 minute- rate for what I thought was a courtesy). Matt quoted me online for a 3-3.5 hour job, and they were finished moving after more than six hours (2 men for the first four hours; Matt joined them to expedite). A more experienced moving company would have asked the square footage and better anticipated what the move would entail. They had to make 2 trips with a 14' box truck. They scuffed our newly painted walls, damaged our couch, and dropped several boxes marked fragile. Of the two movers, one was very nice and polite; the other complained a bit about the heat and the long hallways lengthening their job. At the end of the night, Matt showed us the figure of nearly $700 on his iPhone after quoting us at $244. I have seen other movers in the building in the last week and would recommend Broad St. Movers or any other moving company over the lack of experience and unpreparedness of Budget Friendly Movers.

The situation:Moving date was July 1. I admittedly balked on making a decision about hiring movers, eventually deciding it WAS the best idea. 10 days out and I started making phone calls. One place actually asked me if I could wait until July 14 because they were booked solid til then. No, no - PRETTY sure moving date being July 1 means I HAVE TO MOVE JULY 1. So when Matt, the owner of Budget Friendly, returned my phone call with an affirmative, I was relieved. He mentioned that I should book online because there was a 5% discount, and that if I paid in cash there would be another 5% discount. Awesome - done and done. I ordered 2 movers and Matt offered me noon for a moving time.AND done. So stoked. On moving day, one of the movers called me to let me know their first job had run way over and they would be 45 minutes late. No problem - and then they showed up with THREE guys. I was kind of horrified, since I had only budgeted for 2. My face turned apologetic and embarrassed. "I'm sorry - I only ordered TWO movers - " but I was assured that I would only have to pay for 2. They had to call in for help since that first job went over - and it went over because the client had grossly underestimated the size of their move. So again, no problem. They assessed my stuff, and said, "you're cake." They had the truck loaded so fast I didn't know what was going on.My guys were polite, lighthearted, and all business as they moved me from place to place - seamlessly, diligently, and in a way that made me feel like they appreciated my move and my business... but I wish they knew how much I appreciated THEM - their demeanors were beyond pleasant, despite the 3 floor walk up on a hot Friday afternoon. I ran to buy them and my father waters and gatorades - the LEAST I could do as they made my stress level dissolve. The conclusion: Time elapsed: ONE HOUR. You heard me. Granted they were behind after that first job, and so I DIDn't have a huge amount to move, but really? An hour? Amazing. I can't sing their praises enough. Thank you, Budget Friendly. You talk the talk and walk the walk. And move the move. (They called my father, "Sir". I thought that was the most adorable thing I had ever heard, and was indicative of the respect with which they treated me, my situation, and my belongings.) I would use them again, again and again - and refer them with no hesitation.Budget Friendly = Gale-approved.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!I know that is a strong statement, however, these movers did not show on my moving day. I spoke to Matt on the phone, booked online, got an email confirmation and thought we were all set.We had two apartments to move into one house, so I had scheduled the move for both apartments. I had not heard anything as the move got closer, so I called the day before to confirm that everything was on schedule.Left a message, no call back.I called the morning of the move at 8am (our move was scheduled at 10:30am), left a message again.I was very nervous by this time. I got a call 45 minutes before our scheduled move time to confirm my reservation for a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DAY. I said I was scheduled and had received confirmation that we were supposed to have them at our residence in 45 minutes and he said that's not possible. He then asked me to reschedule my moving day, as they were booked thru July 1! That was absolutely not possible, as I told him, and then I said, "So what you're telling me is that there is no way you can make it out today," to which he hastily replied that he would put us on for the end of the day, at 5pm or after, and that they would do one apartment that day and one the next. I had a very strong feeling that this would not happen so we rented a UHaul and started the move ourselves, hoping they would indeed show at 5pm. THEY WERE A NO SHOW/NO CALL. This is a poorly run, poorly coordinated and unprofessional moving company.  Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
