I used ABF U-Pack for my cross-country move this summer and had no complaints. One Relocube moved from Portland to Brooklyn cost me $1700. Significantly cheaper than PODS, U-haul, or other moving companies that I contacted. Note that if you are just moving boxes, Amtrak may be your best and cheapest option. I have had very good experiences doing that. I used ABF U-Pack for this phase of the move because I had furniture and other larger items. The entire process was seamless and as promised, from cube drop-off and pick-up, to tracking, to delivery in Brooklyn. I found the phone and internet support pleasant, knowledgeable, and accurate. Coordinating cube delivery on my street wasn't realistic, so I just had the cube delivered to the ABF location in Brooklyn and had local movers help get the stuff to my apartment.Understand that any damage in transit is your responsibility, as you are the one doing the packing and loading. I did not have any serious breakage, but I have a lot of packing/moving experience. If you are concerned, consider hiring professional movers to help you with this part, and/or pay for additional insurance.I would definitely use this company again for a long distance move.

If could give zero stars, I would. I had a horrible experience with my Seattle to NY move. Note: A version of this review was also sent to their customer service, accounting and safety email aliases, but no response yet.ABF completely lied about the features and quality of their "weatherproof" storage containers. After paying ABF nearly $5,000 to see that my belongings were taken care of, my things were delivered in a wet, moldy and DESTROYED state including antique, heirloom family furniture, collector's literature, and thousands of dollars' worth of clothing and shoes to name a few items. Not only were my valuables ruined, but I had the most horrific time coordinating the drop-off time for my trailer. Someone from ABF called to collect my last payment for storage (which was a huge, huge mistake - something I should have held until I received my things). They said my truck departed from the NJ terminal at 12:15 and should be there in about an hour. So, I scheduled movers to come at 1:00. The truck didn't arrive until 3pm! I called the dispatcher's office 10 times and all they could tell me was that the driver left at 12:15. I had NO IDEA where my things were for nearly 3 hours. After my 7th or 8th call, the dispatcher finally told me the truck driver would call me, which he never did. This was by far the poorest, disorganized  communication I have ever encountered from a business. Not only that, but I lost another $125 because I had movers sitting and waiting. Another inconsistent promise from ABF that cost me money. The customer service and basic infrastructure of your business is entirely flawed in the fact that you can't tell your paying customers where in transit their things are, or have any way of getting in touch with your drivers. It is unfathomable that ABF says they're a moving/storage company when they show such utter negligence toward a customer's priceless possessions. I have no way to pay to fix the water damage done to my grandmother's dresser. I will be paying hundreds of dollars to see that my molded clothes and shoes are wearable again, though I may just have to throw them away. While you may say they are just "things," these "things" represented the life I built for myself over the past several years and represented connections to family that I can never get back. And you were paid to take care of them and deliver in the same state to which you picked them up!I feel completely burgled for paying this company. DO NOT USE OR TRUST

Some the nicest people I've ever encountered. Great customer service and really helpful.  Phone support is also super nice. I recommend online booking and save $25. They also open super late!  Kinda scary at night because its in the industrial part of bushwick/Williamsburg/maspeth.

Okay here is our story with u-pack.We book our 3 relo-cubes for drop off on 10/12/2014. Went smooth and Sonny McKinney is great. Drop off is for 10/27/2014.On 10/22/2014 we get a call from "MIKE" who works at the local terminal. He says our flatbed truck is broken down and can you re-schedule which is left on a message on my cell phone. So I call right back and tell him I need it for the scheduled days and tell him I'd paid extra to make sure dates were good. I then ask if there is only one flatbed and he says yes and they are waiting for a part. I explain how much planning went into this move and he says he's sorry that I should call the u-pack office which I reply maybe you should. He says he already did but if the truck gets fixed within the next 2 days he will call me. Living here on Long Island NY I thought having no resources but one flatbed to be rather strange.Ok so I call the u-pack office and the REP is aware of the issue. I then explained my situation and asked what they could do for me. She offers to take $500 off the move if I'd like to take our belongings to the terminal ourselves. I find this odd because what are you really giving us, the price quote would have about $500 less if we had done a "terminal load". She then offers me the phone # of local movers that could transport our belongings to the terminal for us at our expense. Wow!!! We tell her that's not good for us and let's wait it out and see if the flatbed gets fixed. So she asks " so you don't want to cancel" I reply I'm not canceling sounds like your canceling because of the truck issue. The whole idea of us loading our belongings in the cubes was very important to us. And the reason we couldn't re-schedule was we were only going to be down in SC for 2 days to receive the pods. Plane tickets already purchased.Ok so now I get a message on 10/23/14 from u-pack CS that mike from the terminal had asked them to call me to tell me that the truck was not going to be fixed. I guess Mike knew we were upset and didn't want to make the call( said that he would call us) not a big deal but would have been nice if he called as he said he would. So I call  u-pack CS and get Kelley. She was great but really she just didn't have the resources to help. One truck breaks down and there goes the whole operation!!!!I guess we could have understood the truck situation and the inconvenience that we incurred but the only solution that u-pack  would have provided had to be a solution that didn't effect their bottom line. Maybe there have been some good experiences with u-pack but ours was not one of them!

I moved from Florida to New York using 2 ReloCubes. I priced having the move handled by movers, renting a U-haul or Penske truck, and also PODS. UPack was the most cost effective. The drop-off of the cubes in Florida was on-time and the operator/driver was professional and courteous. Pick-up of the cubes was also on time. I was just closing up the cubes when he arrived to pick them up and asked if I needed more time. The cubes got to New York a day earlier than expected. I didn't have a delivery address yet so I asked them to hold them for a few days. Once I had the address, I called and they were able to deliver them next day. I paid an extra $150 to have it delivered in a one hour window so I could schedule movers to unload. They were delivered on time. In NY, they can only drop the cubes for 4 hours and they stay with the cubes the entire time. The operator/driver was friendly and helpful. He helped me open the doors and make sure nothing had shifted before the movers arrived then kept me company while the movers were there. NOTHING was broken during the move. A few things shifted and I did have some small, hardly noticeable rub marks on some of my furniture mostly from furniture in the second cube which was not packed as tightly as the first. I would recommend loading both cubes together, dividing furniture evenly and using boxes to fill in any empty spaces. I used lots of blankets, towels, and pillows as buffers which did seem to help a lot. I also used my throw rugs in the bottom of the cubes to keep things from sliding. If I ever have to make a long distance move again, I will definitely have U-Pack at the top of my list.
