I contacted Alex from QMS Movers through Craiglist about a week before my move. He was very nice and responsive with emails, replying quickly with every question I asked. The rate he gave me seemed reasonable and he even filled out the insurance forms my building required. On the day of the move (Friday, July 31 - very busy moving day) his team arrived only a few minutes behind. 4 guys and a 21 foot truck (even though in the email he said he'd send a 24 ' truck) The guys (or should I say - the kids) were very nice,  one didn't speak english but they were all very motivated and other than a couple of slacking off breaks they managed to pack my entire one bedroom apartment into that truck in about 5 hours. They would have finished much earlier if they had a larger truck (as was promised) and I also wouldn't have had to rent ANOTHER truck the next day to pick up more stuff that wouldn't fit in the truck. All in all the bill was for 6 hours at $110, + 1 hour travel time $110 + insurance $60 plus taxes or something.. with tip it was $1100 (then another $200 moving the other stuff the following day).Pretty expensive for moving 1 BR. Having the right truck would have helped a lot.And the worse part is when I emailed Alex about it (twice) there was no reply.

Writing this review because We are waiting for the movers to come while we have packed everything and... just... waiting.. for three hours now. So I called QMS a week ago and explained that we NEED movers at 9 AM because of the agreement with the new apartment building. However, when I called them at 9, i was told that they have JUST started from Brooklyn!?!?!? They dont have any formal contract stating the liability, service etc, (while we dont know how the moving service would be.)I dont know how my experience would be, but so far I already have breached the agreement with the new building for the Move-in time. This three hour delay has caused a lot of problems and delay in my plans. Wish you luck.

If I could give then negative stars I would....People please don't use this company! I emailed Alex who at first seemed very professional, nice and most of all reassuring because I needed to move last minute. The building I'm moving to needed a COI which after I booked the date, Alex reassured me that it was being prepared. When I heard nothing after 2 days I called and someone I'm assuming Alex; picked up still asleep, sounding upset that was disturbing him.  Mind you their hours open at 7 and I called at 9am. Then when I inquired about the COI he said it would cost $120.00. I was taken aback, because moving companies do not charge for COI, it's just them proving they are insured to the buildings and is solely their responsibility. Also Alex mentioned none of this during our discussions about charging for a COI. This put my back against the wall because again I needed to move ASAP and he knew this, probably trying to make it so I wouldn't find anyone else and have to cough up the 120. I ended up having to switch my moving day with another company and I'm thankful that was all. Alex and his company is a BIG scam. Moving is already pricey, don't let him take advantage, COI's are free.
