Penske was incredible. I had a reservation with Uhaul which they screwed up the day before my move so I had to scramble. Penske secured my reservation in 5 minutes - the customer service person was fantastic and answered all my questions. I arrived early the next morning and they were already there and got me on the road very quickly with everything I needed. Would highly recommend.

i cant say enough about Penske as a company and especially about the North Bergan brunch!they run just a great operation, with extreme care! i have been in the trucking industry for over 15 years and can clearly say that this company is the best of any company in that field, anything i have asked they always jumped and helped me! from truck breakdowns in the middle of no where to truck rentals of extremely short notice and many more incidents. the last one happened over the weekend at 12 am when my driver lost his key, Penske right away started to move things around and by 5:30 am the trucks was already running! everyone seems to be so friendly and customer service oriented, unlike the competition (there is always someone available form your brunch and you feel like you doing business with a local business not like a Huge corporation. my account manager is always available by txt or email and i really feel like i have a partner in Penske and he cares about my success just like they cares about his company. on top of it, they have a huge fleet of brand new trucks always available and they maintain it so good that you have the confidence of sending the truck anywhere without worrying about down time.if you are looking to run your business smooth and have the edge on your competition choose Penske! i am a customer for life.

Going into the rental, I prepared myself for the worst experience of a lifetime, but for all of the inconveniences I suffered, I was compensated, so in the end, I suppose I got what I paid for. First off, Penske starts off with higher rates, but is the only company where you can negotiate (price matching) and that gives discounts such as Triple A discounts over the phone. Budget and U-Haul do not offer this, so Penske will probably always come out to the cheapest. Also, Penske gives you unlimited miles, so you don't have to worry about accidentally taking detours.But here's where the bad stuff happened: 1. The only way that Penske would have been price-competitive was with the Triple A discount. I personally did not have a card, but I am covered under my family's plan. I didn't know if this was going to cut it, however, so I called Penske to make sure. The person on the phone said it would be ok to bring my dad's card, as long as we had road-side assistance. But the person at Chelsea rental said that I had to have the card under my name so that she could swipe it. So she did not apply this insurance. 2. Chelsea Rental, the contractor that houses Penske, did not check the back of the truck before we drove it away. So I drove the truck all the way back to the UWS. Only to open it up and discover a bunch of crap in the back. There were about 20 dollies, and hundreds of pounds of packaging material. So I had to drive it all the way back to Chelsea and have them take it all out. This delayed the trip by about an hour and a half. Here are the redeeming things: 1. The Penske truck we got was brand new. This probably meant the gas mileage was pretty good. compared to other older trucks of the same size. 2. They compensated me for the "bad stuff" and refunded $75 dollars off of the total rental.Other things to know driving to Boston: You can make it on a full tank of gas. You will just need to fill it up right before you turn it in, and it will be about $60 dollars in gas money. I opted for the $50 dollar insurance, but I really did not need it. Waze will tell you a way to get there that is shortest, but keep on I-95 as you exit New York, as this is the road without little tunnels that will scrape the top of your truck off. Once you get into CT, you can take 84 to 91 (or 91 to 84 or something like that... (go through Hartford)

I recently rented a 12' Penske truck to help move my son from Harlem, NYC to Flagstaff, AZ. I was amazed at the ease of this GMC truck- plenty of power and cruise control made our trip a total joy. This truck was perfect in every way, and you can't beat Penske for the cheapest way to move one-way! When we dropped off the truck in Phoenix, near the airport, as I was flying home to Washington, we were greated by the nicest employee who quickly facilitated our rental return. In short, all went so, so well, that I HAD to write this review. Thank you Penske! Great company and great reliable trucks!

I rented from the Penske on 449 10th Ave, which I can't find in the search results.These guys are fantastic.I don't want to blow up the spot of the guy who helped me out, but lets just say I got a bit of leeway on some things. On top of the friendly and generous attitude, I got a brand-spanking new truck with no damage and an honest fuel gauge. Speaking of dishonest fuel gauges, Chelsea U-Haul can suck it. Not having a hellish rental experience was an extremely refreshing change, and having a great rental experience was a complete surprise.
