Lighthouse Vanlines

My husband and I moved last month (8/28/16) from New York to Miami Beach. Before we settled on Lighthouse Vanlines I spoke with countless moving companies. After speaking with Michael at Lighthouse Vanlines and seeing the reviews I decided this would be the best company for our move.What a SPECTACULAR service! I definitely recommend this company to anyone. We had three movers; Marcos, Sean, and Alex. They showed up at the scheduled time I was given the day before. It was raining bad when they first arrived but, that didn't stop them from getting right to work. They wrapped all our large items with care, disassembled the beds and loaded the truck with such expertise and efficiency.

This business doesn't even deserve one star.  The worst experience from start to finish. There is no way these five star reviews are legit.My items took five weeks to get from ATL to SF.  Delivery was yesterday, and several items are missing.  Parts of my bed frame, several boxes with essential items, coffee table, large dog bed, and a box full of photo albums.  Infuriating!  Not to mention the movers and truck drivers were incredibly unprofessional.  At this point,  I wish I would have sold everything and taken a loss than experience this nightmare.  What a cluster f**k!They will be getting an earful from me Monday morning when my ONLY good contact is back in the office. I'm really not sure how these folks are in business.

Awful experience.  Actual cost was double the inspection estimate, they demanded cash only with a "hostage load".  Disgruntled moving crew damaged furniture, walls, wood floors even after I bought them lunch and dinner on top of tips.  When I made a claim for damages they didn't honor the damage/replacement contract, they actually yelled at my wife and I with insults.  Every review here is 5 stars except for a few 0 stars, does that even make sense?  Clearly these 5 start reviews are fake.

I waited a long time to write this review to make sure i would be able to point specifically to facts.  I was holding off on leaving any comments but i wish i knew before i chose this company. I hope this helps.Prior to moving day I provided a detailed list from an in home estimate ( reviewed a lot ) , as the items changed i got get these to Light house ( Bob) and as the move got closer the responses became less and less. I was actually told that my final list was too late to get an updated quote( First sign of unscrupulous business practice)  Light house will tell you they are the best and that is why they will charge a higher premium per cubic foot. ( They are hedging that your inventory will be off and that they can tell you you have more cubic ft then you & They committed too ) How this is possible with a detailed list and multiple checks prior to the move from an in home estimate. I was promised that it would not cost me a penny more i even sent the in home estimate detailed list to Light house to avoid issues on move day. So let's get to move day  - Some how they want an additional $1500 ( I removed inventory not added ( Bulky stuff was removed Washer & Dryer & Furniture how should it be more), ( cubic ft is Cubic Ft measure the trailer 13 ft Trailer and multiply it out before you Agree to anything) Bottom line is I had to get this move done (if Half my stuff wasn't on the truck already i would for sure have canceled because of the games and un-responsiveness from the office)I'm told to call Bob,who eventually calls back  then I'm told that a call went to Leo(Owner) then to the office just what i wanted to be doing is chasing a company that I paid a higher premium for "better and the Best service" , Call Leo- He will be in Wednesday, now Leo is out of the country,  So I keep the call with Leo on the back burner figure someone would get in contact with me so i know the cash I need to have on hand to complete this move when my stuff arrives. ( I pad additional money on the day of the move as well as on arrival) Bottom line is I had to get this move done (if Half my stuff wasn't on the truck already i would for sure have canceled because of the games and un-responsiveness.)So one day before my stuff arrives - I am Calling Bob looking for an answer on the final price ( Which should have been what was negotiated in my locked price..  No one seems to know whats going on , I finally hear from Leo , he doesn't even offer a solution , so i have to make an offer  My answer is what the contract says and he says "NO WAY" ( Isnt that what the contract is for) , then he tells me you cant negotiate at the gas pump you just have to pay the price. That works both ways i negotiated before we signed a contact , and he decided to change the rate. Lets just say the conversation was not professional on any level i will spare the details. He lowers it $200 still $1300 above what we agreed too. I was done at this point The driver was great- I helped unload the truck to get this over with quicker The one& Only  positive is that everything arrived in good condition-  Bullet point- I should have followed my gut but I fell for the bogus I was fed ( Lesson learned) Bob- Fast Talker - Empty promisesLeo( Owner) - Rude, Unresponsive, Driver on Receiving end - Great to work with Would I Recommend - Not a chance

The numerous times that I have moved with other companies it has been such a huge hassle with a bigger price tag at the end. The same can not be said for these folks. I was a bit apprehensive trying a new moving company since other companies have been frightening. I liked this particular moving company because of many different factors. The service was stellar, it was extremely speedy, and most of all nothing was damaged.I have had experiences where my expensive items were destroyed in the process of moving. Everything was handled with care and friendless. I would definitely recommend others to use their services.
