I did my research for months on my move and Aone  is in fact A1.  So I contacted them a million times to go over the contract as I have been burnt in the past with shady companies.  But I must say that A-one  lived up to my expectation to the max.  On the day of my move, the driver called me at exactly 3 minutes to  8am and my move started within 5 mins. As I had to be in my new building by 3pm I wanted as early start as possible. These guys were super human.  My 3 bedroom was packed and ready by 1045am.  The trick to moving is to ensure that everything is packed.  The guys came in and took the rooms by storm,  The only thing is that the office didn't tell me that they would charge extra for the piano, even though I have wrapped the heck out of it.  All my furniture was packed, sealed and ready for them.  The only job they had to do was to take it to the truck.  I had to sign a waiver because I had packed my own stuff. They broke a large standing mirror, which I believe happen when they struggled with the piano. But I must say taking the piano out was a huge challenge and I must admit these guys were good.  If they had to pack my stuff then it would have taken much longer and cost more.  The guys were really great and pleasant.  Thank you A-one, I should give you full stars but my mirror broke. Maybe I should call and find out about the insurance . And I feel that the office should have told me about the additional cost for the piano.  But for the most part I will give them full score because they were super fasti would give them a full five but i was a bit grrrr that they didnt tell me about my piano upfront and that they charged me for that and that my mirror got broken but they were good

Booked a move with A One Van Lines and they were wonderful, fast, reliable and very efficient. Booked my move with Susan, she was wonderful and very helpful. All my furniture was in perfect condition and the estimated time that they would be there was perfect. It was a pleasure moving without any problems or worries. I moved from Brooklyn to California, I was very nervous since it was a far distance, but it was perfect and I'm very glad. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to move worry free!!! I'm really glad I took the risk, it was the best decision I could've made. I have a lot of furniture that is fragile and I was nervous

A1 bought my name from a leads service as someone moving from New Jersey to Florida. Beyonkia Sheen called and e-mailed me endlessly after being asked to stop and remove me from their lists.. She continued to press for inventory and  agreement after being told I would not be doing business with her company. She called back abusing me. Then send another e-mail. It was my error to ask for information on line --  movers pay substantially for these leads.

BEWARE, STAY AWAY!!!  This is the most unprofessional moving company out there.  I reported this company to the BBB.  I don't even know where to begin.  I used them because their sales associate assured me they have been in business for many years and they have no claims with the BBB, she explained they do everything in their power to ensure customer satisfaction.  Well this customer is extremely unsatisfied.First, they guarantee a 14 day delivery from the date you call, which is untrue.  I called less than a week after they moved my stuff out of my NY apartment, and did not get my things until  3-4 weeks later. When my items arrived to LA from NY three boxes were missing and the guy in charge told me the boxes had already been discarded.  Much to my dismay, when I looked later to see if the boxes were in the trash they were not.I called A-One immediately and did not hear back until I threatened to sue and opened a case with the BBB.  They then came back and said they found my boxes and then weeks later (when I called to get an ETA) I was told the boxes actually were not mine. This company will give you the run around and they are incredibly rude and unpofessional.  I am actually pursuing a legal case against them.  Legally we (all the other dissatisfied customers on here) are entitled to a resolution regarding our belongings.

Received a quote from these guys and several others for my move from Brooklyn to Chicago. Their quote was slightly higher than some of the others, but their sales guy was articulate and sounded honest. I ended up having them pack, load, and ship all the stuff in my studio apartment. Joe, the sales guy, told me that while his quote was slightly higher than some of the other guys, he could guarantee that the other guy's prices would creep when all was said and done. Turns out that's exactly what happened with A-One.These guys are professional, but they're also kind of shady. They failed to mention until after my stuff was packed that I had to pay the second half of the invoice in cash--that's no small chunk of change. They also charged me $111.00 for six boxes that I could have bought online for $4.00 apiece had I known their prices were so high. Joe insisted that their prices on packing materials were actually lower than the other guys, but that's not much consolation when I still ended up paying $20 for a single box. To add insult to injury, when I spoke to the owner to ask for a discount on the packing materials, he explained that the prices have to be inflated to account for the fact that they don't charge for labor. That's ludicrous, obviously, because they state in the invoice that the price of labor is included in the cost of the move. So, in other words, they actually charge you twice for "free" labor: Once as part of the cost of the overall move, and once as padding in the prices of their shipping materials. Instead of giving me a discount on the packaging, he acted like he was being a really good guy for agreeing to remove a 3% surcharge that I hadn't even been told I'd have to pay. Thanks, A-One. Thanks a lot. I don't doubt that I'll receive everything in one piece (they actually seem to know what they're doing on the actual packing and moving side of things), but I'll definitely go with a different company when I move back to New York. I suggest you use a different company for your move as well.Quote: $1,155.00 - Includes packing labor, loading, 1 month of free storage, shipping, and unloading. Packing materials are extra, but sales person said he didn't think it would be more than $200 given the amount of stuff I was moving. $150.00 deposit, 50% due day of move, remaining balance due upon delivery. Pay with cash or credit card. In the end: I was charged $1629.00, but received $75.00 discount. Grand total came out to $1554.00. Deposit and 50% of total went on my credit card, have to pay $552 cash upon delivery. They charged my card three days ago and I still haven't received an invoice.**Update**Wow. So tonight I was finally able to get someone at A-One to send me an invoice. The bill shows that in addition to paying for all of the packing materials (as I was told I would), I also paid a packing fee for each box they packed. So, for every $9.50 box that was packed, I was also charged a $9.00 packing fee. Before the move began I was told that the cost of packing was included in the quote and that the only extra money I'd be charged was to cover the packing materials themselves. Which means they lied. Awesome. They also finally came clean about the fact that I'd previously incurred an 11% fuel surcharge, which wasn't mentioned before the move began and which was considerably higher than the 3% charge Joseph (the owner, I believe) said I'd been charged when he offered me the generous (heh) $75 discount. In the end, Susan (in legal) agreed to bring the surcharge down to 8%, which gave me an additional $36 off my bill. Susan made it sound like I was being unreasonable for not being grateful that they'd so generously reduced my invoice by more than $100 when all was said and done. I explained to her that I wasn't being unreasonable for being frustrated that I was charged a packing fee for each box despite having been told that there wouldn't be a packing fee beyond what was reflected in the quote. In the end I was charged a total of $1443 after having been quoted a price of $1150, and I was made to feel like an asshole for having a problem with that. Susan would probably tell me that the lack of prior notice of the surcharge and the packing fees were simply a misunderstanding. I think it's far more reasonable to assume that they were less than forthcoming about these additional fees and waited until they had everything I own in their possession before informing me.
