History

Established in 1985. Two Men and a Truck® started in the early 1980s as a way for two brothers to make extra money while they were in high school. Now, more than 30 years later, the company has grown to over 320 locations worldwide. Brothers Brig Sorber and Jon Sorber started moving people in the Lansing, Mich., area using an old pickup truck. Their mom, Mary Ellen Sheets, developed a logo to put in a weekly community newspaper. That stickmen logo still rests on every truck, sign, and advertisement three decades later.After the brothers left for college, Sheets continued to field calls for moving services while she also worked a full-time data processing job with the State of Michigan. In 1985, she decided to make things official by purchasing a 14-foot truck for $350 and hiring a pair of movers. That $350 is the only capital Sheets has ever invested in the company.

I verrry rarely write a poor review because I understand people do have bad days and things outside of the workplace can affect performance. However, it's totally unacceptable when a company shows up 4 hours late (I am not exaggerating) with no communication, looses several items, and then tacks on several hidden fees after the fact. Some people think moving is stressful but when you add Two Men and a Truck to the equation, they will properly introduce you to the word stressful. I am only writing this review so people in the future do not have such an awful experience as my family and I did.

I have used this company for three moves in the greater Chicago area, and I have had an excellent experience each time.Move #1: Evanston to Chicago, 2015The movers arrived on-time, they sent 3 movers instead of 2 (and did not charge us any extra for this). They worked professionally and quickly. They treated our items with care. The estimate was higher than the total cost, so we paid less than we thought we would. Move #2: Chicago to Chicago, 2016The movers arrived delayed due to a crazy snow-storm the night before. We were not charged any additional for this--they started the clock when they arrived and began working. I was honestly surprised they were able to arrive at all, given the state of the roads, but they made it work for us! The estimate was accurate, and we paid what we were quoted. Move #3: Chicago to Chicago, 2017The movers arrived a bit late (maybe 15 minutes tops), but they kept me informed several times along the route of the updated ETA. We were not charged any additional for the delay, and they started the clock when they began working. They were extremely professional. They treated our items with care. This most recent time, I felt like the move was going slower than I would have liked, but I could see that this was because they were wrapping all of our items extremely carefully. The estimate was accurate, and we paid what we were quoted. PROS:1) Estimate: The process of getting an estimate is quick, easy, accurate. 2) Communication: They are responsive to questions before, during, and after the move. I have called & emailed with questions before the move, and they always provide a timely response. Before the truck arrives, they communicate their ETA, and they inform you if there are delays. They have followed-up with me after each move to make sure everything went smoothly. 3) Professionalism: The movers themselves are professional, work efficiently, and adhere to any special requests you have (e.g., "Can you be extra careful with that item, please?"). Moving is a difficult and stressful job, and I have always found Two Men to be in good spirits and very polite to me.

I gave my review but I think it didn't go through the way I wanted it to because they deserve five stars the most I can give but they were the best moving company ever they were polite prompt personable and I couldn't ask for more if you need to move I highly recommend you go for this company they are reasonable and everything about them was a great experience I've tried other companies very bad experience so take my advice and try this company and tell your friends thank you very much to men and a truck

They stole my PS4. I packed up my PS4 myself; when I arrived at the new place and opened my PS4 box, the PS4 was gone and the box had some books in it for weight. This move took 6 hours for a one-bedroom to one-bedroom move. I'm only giving them one star because I can't do negative stars. Not only will I never use them again, I'm telling everyone I know not to use them either. Hard to get anyone to follow up with me, hard to get anyone to respond to my phone calls, they say they're going to keep me up to date and they don't, etc. THIS IS A PROFESSIONAL LOOTING OPERATION. I bought the guys water and gatorade and tipped them, and they smiled in my face and took my money after stealing from me, all while wearing shirts that said "movers who care."
