I called Ryder the evening before I needed a truck because I had just been informed by a different truck rental company that they didn't actually have a truck available for me to rent (despite an email confirmation telling me they did).So I was frantically calling everyone in the city trying to find a place that would rent me a truck in less than 24 hours, and I found this Ryder location. Not only was the woman on the phone polite, but she told me that they did in fact have a 16' box truck available for me to rent tomorrow.Awesome!AND they open at 7am so I can pick it up earlier than I would've been able to at the other place, too.I asked "can you absolutely guarantee that it will be there?" and she said "yes."So I show up at 7am to get the truck and they're like "well, unfortunately we don't have a 16' truck."Seriously? Her: "But I can give you a 14' box truck instead.  I'll give you a discount"Me :"Whoever I spoke with yesterday assured me that a 16' foot truck was available."Her:  "Well, it's in the lot, but they never dropped the keys off."Me:  "Fine.  I have to move today, what other options do I have."So we go outside to see it, and it's not even a box truck.  It's a Van (although at least it was a 14' van rather than the standard 10' van).  And it's only 5' wide.  I'm like I don't think my stuff is going to fit.  But what other option do I have?  Oh, and it's diesel, so I have to find a diesel gas station to fill it up at afterward. So I take the van, annoyed because I think it's going to take two trips for the move, and if that is the case I'm going to have to pay a lot more for the movers who are costing me $65/hr.  I decide that if this takes 2 trips to move everything, I'm going to make Ryder pay for it because they guaranteed me a 16' truck and then failed to deliver, so I shouldn't have to pay for the additional cost incurred by their mistake.Anyway, I get back to my place at like 7:30 and start loading up the truck until the movers arrive at 9:00.  The movers were awesome, and one of them said "I guarantee everything will fit 100%."  I'm like alright cool then.Everything did fit in the 14' van (just barely) and the move was made in one trip.I refilled the tank with diesel (took a while to find a diesel station in the city) and dropped the truck (van) back off after hours and dropped off the keys.OVERALL EXPERIENCE:Customer service: 5/5.  The woman I spoke with was nice and polite.Hours: 5/5.  Open at 7am?  That's awesome!Price: 3/5.  It was more expensive than competitors, BUT I also booked last minute and I know you usually pay a premium for that.Experience: 3/5.  The truck I was "guaranteed" was not available.  This would've been 0/5, but they did offer a replacement, even though it was smaller than what was reserved.  So, 2/5 for effort, and +1 because it actually worked and I was able to fit all my stuff in it.Based on my limited experience, I think this Ryder location is better than most of the other moving truck rental companies in the downtown Chicago area.
