I used this facility for almost a year. The staff is very professional and attentive to their customers only providing nothing but the best service. The space is great! I had a very positive experience with Extra Space.  When in transition with my move I needed a storage facility nearby. This isn't the most exciting endeavor and I figured it would be as irritating as the rest of the moving process.  I was pleasantly surprised by this facility, however.  Shaun (sp?) was always very friendly and helpful, she's great.  The other staff I encountered were also very friendly each time.  The rates and rental process is straight-forward, easy, explained clearly, etc.  Move-in and out was a breeze.  The only issue / 'head's up' (and this is just a result of being a storage facility in the middle of a big city probably) is that sometimes during busy move times (beginning/end of the month) the loading dock gets busy and the free carts they offer to help move items get snatched up quickly.  I wasn't a fan of the placement of the huge dumpster in the back of the facility RIGHT at the base of the ramp.. so if you're moving things to your car, for example, with a cart or dolly, you sort of have to dodge the giant dumpster positioned horribly at the base of the ramp.  When it gets crowded you can't maneuver around the dumpster very easily with large items.  The energy saving lighting throughout the facility is probably good for the environment, they turn on when motion is sensed on each floor's hallway, but they sure turn off quickly!  So when you're moving lots of items in and out of your storage unit, you're forced to stop what you're doing when things go pitch-black, walk a few feet down the hallway, do a little dance to get the lights to sense your motion and turn back on, and then go back to what you're doing.  Maybe these could be set to stay on more than a couple minutes at a time.  Otherwise, this is a great facility. Piping classic rock into the hallways of every floor helps make the otherwise mundane task of moving things in and out  more enjoyable :)

Just adding my high praise for John and Alex to the fray. We needed a small unit for packing up a college student for year end. It is freshman year and we are 1000 miles away so didn't know where to start. S Wabash was close to the dorm and after the high praise from this site and others I visited in person. Alex couldn't have been nicer showing the facility and answering all my questions. Jump ahead to this week when we are ready to pay and sign contract in Massachusetts (John explained over the phone that it could be done at any location, but must be done in person) for the unit in Chicago.  At the MASS location, the person was a nightmare to deal with. Couldn't get the computer to work but somehow was able to sign us in 19 times and charge us (4) $22 service fees, along with not being able to get the contract to print so we could complete the transaction. We are at the 14 day deadline so it had to be completed. Once again, John to the rescue. Straitened out from 1000 miles away what the guy in front of me couldn't do.  My daughter and her roommates were able to go to the Chicago location yesterday and get their lock (that we purchased from Mass) and they are good to go. You can't go wrong here, Folks!
