SCAM ALERT! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! My initial estimated quote was for $3,092 and through the magic of con-artistry my final price jumped to well over $5,200, for a 1-bedroom apartment move from Atlanta, GA to Detroit, MI. In short I was extorted, the moving company refused to release my belongs unless I paid the $2,200 increased price, with no real explanation on how or why my quoted price changed so dramatically. After my terrible experience with this company and after doing more thorough research and reading through the several complaints on the BBB and Consumer Affairs websites, I feel like this company preys on people, specifically women, who seem to have a little more than average money in their pockets. Once they have your items in hostage on their truck, the real scam starts to get you to pay thousands more because they know you can probably afford it. They know you're vulnerable since they have all your personal belongings, and that you have to do and pay whatever they say to get your items back. I never in my life have felt so taken advantage of. Also FYI this company is not backed by the BBB, but they have so many complaints against them that if they were to register with the BBB they would have a C-/D rating. Do your research and you'll see that this company is not legit. Employee/Manager Kerlene at ext 178 represents herself to be the be-all-end-all to any customer service issues at Colonial Van Lines, according to her there is NO ONE else who is higher in management than her companywide, which has GOT to be a lie because she's entirely too unprofessional, has no problem solving skills, was unable to explain why my price increased $2,200 more than I was quoted, and speaks in a general ghetto-tone that doesn't warrant me to believe that she would have that type of authority. There's just no way this company would have made it 20+ years with her in control. So I welcome the real President/CEO/Director/Owner of Colonial Van Lines to reach out to me to get the full spectrum of just how terrible your company is being managed. AGAIN BUYERS BEWARE, THIS COMPANY IS A COMPLETE SCAM!!!!!
