After having a nice lease for close to 2 years I decided it was time to move closer to miracle mile as I enjoy it as a walkable area.I called my usual company for moving but they were fully booked so I asked if they had any recommendations as I very much like how they take care of me and so I was hoping they could point me to someone who does a similar job. They pointed me to England Van Lines. Super job with handling of all my things and simply one of the quickest packings I've ever witnessed.

Recently I moved once more, this is probably my 5th time moving in my life and my experiences with it have been mostly poor. Every one of my moves was tricky because I am very bad at estimating moving expenses.Luckily when I called they ran through a list of a bunch of average moving expenses with me. In general I originally went with this company because I had collected a list of inexpensive moving companies and they were actually the least expensive one out of that list. I figured the whole thing would go pretty much exactly like all my previous moves especially since the price was so low. I, however, was pleasantly surprised to see them do one of the best moving jobs I've had to experience in my life. Incredibly professional crew that was courteous and clean. They got me moved and everything was intact in the end.

I hired England Van Lines (after researching their 5 star reviews--which have ALL now disappeared) to move my 1-bedrom apartment. They gave me a binding flat-rate estimate of $2340 (including FULL PACK service). They arrived at that quote after I sent their estimator, Patrick, a photo stream of my belongings. 1.) The movers arrived 5 hours late and were from a different company than the one I had engaged--Acclaimed Movers & Storage (a company I had passed on given their overwhelmingly negative reviews)! 2.) When they movers arrived they had NO IDEA they were supposed to pack me. They did not have adequate packing materials or boxes + no wardrobe boxes (I was even giving them used boxes from the garage), and so severely compromised the packing of my items (MANY things were damaged or broken on arrival) + Multiple Items were left behind in my apartment. 3.) After the truck was packed with all my items, the foreman informed me that I owed him $1000 more than my binding flat-rate estimate, and that I had to give it to him in check or cash. When I protested the $1000 overage, he made a phone call to his company and said I'd have to take it up with them on Monday; that there's nothing he could do and that I owed him the money. I offered him my AmEx thinking I could at least reverse charges if need be as this was extortion. He said they wouldn't take AmEx despite the fact that I have an email on file from England Van Lines saying that they take AmEx (I paid for the deposit on AmEx). I said that it was AmEx or nothing. He called his company again and said I could fill out a Credit Card Authorization form for $1000. I did and also wrote my objection on the form. He said that Olga would be calling me on Sunday to go over the extra charges. I never received a phone call. I called the number provided multiple times and no one answered. I left a voicemail which no one returned. Ever.4.) The movers provided me with NO documents. No copy of the contract, credit card authorization form, inventory sheets, bill of lading, etc. To this day, I have NO documentation from either England Van Lines or Acclaimed Movers & Storage. Which they probably do to inhibit customer's ability to file against them with the DOT.5.) I called England Van Lines multiple times over the next few days to no avail. I finally reached Jamie Simon, who identified himself as a manager, after negotiating with him, I was able to get him to drop the extra $1000 and give me a delivery date. He said he would call me back with a time window. He did not. I asked him to put everything in writing and send it over to me. He did not. I verified with him that my belongings would arrive in a smaller truck (not the huge semi they were packed in) so that it would fit down the narrow street. Of course, they did not.6.) The day of delivery: No call back from Jamie confirming delivery for this morning, and no email from Jamie confirming the points he promised yesterday would be sent to me in writing. I called him again at 8:15am. He said the movers would be at our house in 2-3 hours. THEY DID NOT ARRIVE TILL 6PM and arrived in a huge truck which would not fit down the street.7.) The foreman came in to go over paperwork before they unloaded--all paperwork is from Acclaimed Movers, NONE of it I'd seen at origin or been given copies (nor was I given a copy after signing this time). When I query about England Van Lines (with whom I'd booked the move), he says something like they are unable to do any contracts or business (forbidden to do so by the Dept. of Transportation), so all has to go through Acclaimed Movers. WHAT?! He also said the last dispatcher quit over all of the deception and bad practices.8.) The unloaded movers themselves (only 2 of them) did a great job and were really nice guys--certainly none of this was their fault and they were doing the best they could. They started carrying in at 6:14PM and my friend and I helped them the best we could (bad backs and all), but they didn't finish till 12:50AM. This was not what I had in mind when I hired full-service movers.9.) Due to botched packing (furniture was unwrapped or improperly wrapped, dishes and glasses were unwrapped and stacked with tools!! + my own expensive linens were used as packing materials, etc.--the unloading movers said it was the worst packing job they'd seen, they thought we'd had someone else pack us), loading, planning, dispatching, etc. we were stuck with $6574.47 of broken and damaged goods + missing goods.10.) I documented and photographed everything and submitted it to England Van Lines. Mike Oxford, their customer service manager, offered me $1000. I said it wasn't enough. After giving me the run around for over a week, Mike referred me to their 3rd party claims agency, CSI Pro. I forwarded all documentation to CSI. They wrote back a week later that THAT THEY DO NOT HANDLE CLAIMS FOR ENGLAND VAN LINES. 11.) Avoid Acclaimed Movers & Storage and England Van Lines like the plague.
