Dot 2 Dot Moving Company

We moved from s. san jose ca to Denver, Colorado in june of 2008. This was a personal move, and as such, we had confidence that it would go fairly smoothly since the company relocates employees frequently and has shopped around for the most reputable movers. From the beginning to the end of our experience, everyone involved made this as painless a process as moving can possibly be. I contacted the local san jose dispatcher who provided me with detailed information about how the move would work. Our packer showed up on time on the day scheduled. While this gentleman was a little gruff, he was professional and extremely competent. My husband and I helped him with the pack and he accurately counted the number of boxes he filled vs. those we filled so that we would only be charged for the boxes we filled, and not his labor. I watched him packing a few of the boxes and he was careful and efficient. All of our breakables were carefully wrapped before being packed, and none of the boxes were over stuffed. On the day of the move, our mover showed up exactly on time. He was very clean cut and friendly. He managed to park the 26 foot truck on our somewhat narrow street with a minimum of difficulty. The truck itself was clean enough inside to perform surgery in. He took a look around the house, and then got to work. It was hot that day, and he took the extra care to lay rubber mats on our carpets to ensure that he and his assistant would not dirty the floors. They loaded the truck with our belongings rapidly but carefully. Everything was securely tied down and packed very neatly. He provided us with an itemized list of every box, rake, chair, bed and knick knack he'd packed, and told us to make sure we had it on the other end so that we could ensure that nothing was missing. We discussed logistics of meeting him in Denver, and settled on a date six days later. We arrived in Denver two days before he was to meet us. He called us the day before he was supposed to arrive and told us that he was in town, and that if we were ready, he could drop our stuff off for us. We agreed, and he showed up with two assistants. They unloaded the truck, stored boxes in our basement we wouldn't be unpacking right away (and very neatly at that), set up our beds and put all furniture in the appropriate rooms. Throughout this time, they were calling out the labels on the boxes and items they unloaded so I could check them off of the list. Not a single thing was missing from our load, and not a single thing had incurred any damage. When we got the final price for the move that would be taken from my relocation package, it was only $2200. While I had a wonderful experience with dot 2 dot moving, I have to say I really do think it depends on the employees of the company you deal with. We had the good fortune of being connected to individuals who were stellar at their jobs, and melted any fears we had about our move from some of the horror stories we've read on this site. I genuinely wish I'd written this up right after we moved so that I could name all the people we worked with. In any case, I wish all of you the same luck we had and hope that any future moves we have are as smooth.
