Ricardo Moving

I was referred to Ricardo Moving by a neighbor who said they were cheap, legit and good. This was my first time using a moving company, and I was scared after reading horror stories of companies that overcharged, mistreated furniture, and wasted time. I was also put off by some companies charging a large travel fee, or a 3 hour minimum, despite the fact I was moving from a small 1 bedroom, less than 2 miles away. I trust my neighbors, so I went with Ricardo Moving, and I'm so glad I did. They were on time, pleasant, and did not waste any time loading everything up. They didn't cut corners though, everything was loaded with care, and even my most fragile items were undamaged. The rate was what we expected- no surprise charges. I would definitely use Ricardo Moving in the future, and recommend it to anyone moving.

At the beginning of July a friend gave me the card of a mover he had used last year.  told me he was very reasonable.  This friend had a house larger than mine and more furniture and Ricardo Moving only charged him $800.00 and they were fast and courteous.  I called and asked for an estimate and he even came out on the 4th of July but he was 2 hours late. I took him through the house and he gave me an estimate of $1400.00  I told him that was more than I could afford and asked why he had only charged my friend $800.00 when he had more furniture and moved 15 miles away and I was only moving 4.3 miles. Anyway we negotiated down to $600.00 and I gave him a $200.00 cash deposit.  As he was leaving he looked at my purse sitting on the kitchen island and remarked "Nice Purse" .  Well it dawned on me why he had tried to jack up the price as I had a LV purse.  I told him it was a gift (not a lie).  The movers arrived on the day of the move and were polite, and moved pretty fast.  They did point out to me they had broken a chair and my Cat condo.  I was too tired to say anything just told them I would think about that later.  I had purchased and anti-vibration mat to go under my washerand when I pointed out they had placed the machine crooked they said don't worry it won't move and pushed it with their hand. At that point I was so exhausted I could not think straight.  I am 67 years old and on disability.  I did not even start to un pack things as I was leaving for my Nieces wedding.  That and several other issues prevented me from checkingeverything.  Subsequently, I have found 2 holes in the side of my bookcase, the chair is un-fixable, and the washer does vibrate as it is not set properly on the anti vibration mat.I would never use this company again or recommend them.  The comment about my purse should have been the first red flag.  They were ready to price gauge me on the moving fee because I had a expensive purse.  Then when they hid the damage to my bookcase and all of the other damage is just too much to bear.  I will spread this to as many media websites as possible so as not to have another senior citizen or anyone else get taken advantage.
