I deeply regret using MakeSpace. While they are excellent at picking up your stuff, they are incapable and unwilling to return it WHEN YOU NEED IT.

You cannot get a delivery appointment any sooner than 4 weeks from when you need one. Furthermore, you cannot even pick up your stuff from the warehouse when MakeSpace won't deliver it. But don't worry, MakeSpace will continue to charge you storage fees while they hold your stuff hostage!

Do not use MakeSpace. You are far better off relying on a traditional storage solution that allows you to access and retrieve your possessions in a timely manner.

I just signed up to have my free MakeSpace bins dropped off and the process to create an account and set-up an appointment was so easy -- I even contacted Customer Service with a question and they were very helpful and responsive.  I'll update my review after MakeSpace picks up my stuff and again in 3 months after its returned.  So far, so good!If you're going to use MakeSpace, use my link and you'll get $75 off (and so will I):inv.mksp.io/xHon/YFMKU97…

We stored all our belongings with MakeSpace for a duration of ~10months while we were overseas. The pick up went smoothly and the movers were very friendly. They provided moving bins and wardrobe boxes, which made packing easy. During the 10month period they made two changes to our contract without our involvement or consent. Many of our items were returned damaged, including a large book wooden shelf and desk. The movers again, were friendly and suggested they take the damaged items back with them and have customer service contact us to file a claim. A week later I contacted customer service as I had not heard from them and filled out a claim form. After a week without response I contacted them again, and was told that I needed to provide links to the items to the claim form. This was as optional category on the form so I had left this blank and had only filled out the obligatory sections. But evidently this information was not "optional. Two weeks later I received an email stating that the claim had been denied as the items were considered 'fragile' - although they were solid wood parts on the two major damaged items, their claims representative stated that the items also contained particleboard and hence were considered fragile and would not be covered or replaced. I emailed again to ask customer support if I could go in and see the items, as I had not taken the photographs myself and was certain that the damage was done to the solid wood component of the items as well as the potential particleboard. I received a response saying I could go in and see the shelves and desk. I responded to schedule the appointment, but this time I received a delayed email stating that all evidence had been discarded and I was not able to see them. This seemed extremely suspicious to me so I asked for a manager to call and discuss this. During the recorded conversation he agreed to speak with his team and see if he could compensate some of the storage costs for us (as we had effectively paid to store trash - it would have been significantly cheaper for us not to pay to store the large items). He phoned me back the next day and offered us a refund equivalent to one month's storage and delivery of the items, which was $20. I was really disappointed with this experience and will not use MakeSpace services in the future.**** I would also like to point out that nearly ALL positive reviews for your company are made by people who are yet to receive their items back from storage. Indeed, the pickup is smooth and the delivery guys are very friendly; but once customers finalise their service they regrettably realise it is a bitter end to an otherwise hopeful transaction.

Shocking!!! Don't use them. Much better to rent your own space and hire a U-Haul to deliver your stuff yourself. In November 2016, they picked up a bed frame with two drawers, a mattress, and a futon. They were packed professionally. Two weeks ago, we requested our stuff be delivered to a new apartment. A day before the scheduled delivery, we received an email saying they'd lost our mattress but that they'd try to find it. The next day, they delivered the bed frame with a center-frame damaged - and with two drawers missing. Incidentally, they needed to borrow a hammer to straighten frame. The futon was torn and the frame cracked. But they did deliver us a box of pillows - that didn't belong to us. Yeah! Couldn't make this up!!! Earlier today, they told us they'd found the lost mattress and have just attempted to deliver it. Unfortunately - and I don't know why I'm smiling as I write this, they delivered someone else's mattress!!! Their customer service response has been pathetic throughout. Calls were promised but were never made. Landed up having to write to the CEO Sam Rosen (sam@makespace.com), but he still hasn't responded. Judging by comments on their Facebook page, mine was not an unusual experience...

So, we're redoing my condo. After four years of meeting with contractors and going back and forth on what we're getting done, who we're working with, all of a sudden we actually find a contractor within our budget who is reliable... and she's like BOOM LET'S DO THIS GET ALL YOUR STUFF PACKED CUZ WE'RE STARTING IN A WEEK. Panic.I found MakeSpace from Facebook, of all places, and looked into it - they almost seemed too good to be true but guys, seriously, they're legit. It's so easy. I went to their website, clicked a few things off to see what size space I'd need for storage - I'm storing a dining table, chairs, like 20 boxes of stuff, a couch, a coffee table, and two cabinets. It's a lot! But they recommended the "small 1 bedroom apartment" and it was the right size (which I know now because they didn't charge me more than they said they would). They drop off however many bins you need FOR FREE. There's an app that alerts you to their arrival time. My bins were dropped off at 8:20am; my window was 8-10am. Ryan dropped them off, and he was professional and even smelled good. That's right. I said it.I packed up my apartment in 24 hours (STRESSFUL) and barely slept worrying about xyz things, but lo and behold, the next day, there was NOTHING to worry about. This time, Luis and King showed up at 9:30am to pack up. Again, my window was 8-10am, so they were still on time. (And also, you get a text 40+ min out alerting you to their arrival, so that's cool.) I need to take a break from the technicals to rave about King and Luis, who also showed up smelling clean and wonderful (though they left super sweaty. Sorry, King and Luis). I was skeptical - two guys to move all this crap? This is gonna take forever! But no. Two hours (probably less than) in and out. They took pictures of everything. Loaded everything up on dollies. Lined my items up in my hallway. Carted it down to the truck. King is a goddamn superhero. He wrapped (and I do mean WRAPPED) everything that was even remotely fragile in plastic wrap. And then he put my furniture in moving pads AND plastic wrap. Guys, my couch looked like a gigantic burrito. Did I mention that they wrap the stuff for free? It's amazing. Other moving companies charge for pads and stuff. MakeSpace says "nah" to that.Anyway, King and Luis finished the job in just under two hours. I tipped them cash - and I recommend that other people do that, too. It's just nicer - who knows where those in-app tips go; who knows what the company takes out of it. Just have like 20-30 bucks per person and be a good sport, okay? Also, give your movers water. That's nice, too. Anyway, MakeSpace is legit. I just want to add, there is NO WAY the company is making money on this service. They pack your stuff, wrap it, take it, store it, and deliver it back for less than a regular storage unit? Get out of here. But, it turns out they have outside funding, so they don't really need to make money. What I'm trying to say is, get on this before they run out of funding and actually have to start charging people appropriately. That's it! MakeSpace made a very stressful, last minute experience eezy-peezy. Thanks!
